After her outstanding life of devotion, particularly to all her own family, Merelyn leaves behind the fondest memories for all of us. We recall with a big smile the harmless, insolent banter between Merelyn and David as well as their instant quizzes on every subject under the sun. Like all her family, she possessed a wide general knowledge, particulary of animals, birds and plants. Certainly, none of us will forget Merelyn's ever-generous culinary contributions to the many family gatherings over the years and her cooking skills. We remember that special time in her early married life when Merelyn and David lived and worked in the Bahamas and later took their children back in adulthood there to see for themselves. There can be no doubt that the many fruitful years Merelyn spent teaching young children back then and later in the UK can never be erased. Merelyn had a great musical ear and used this to the full with the Callington Singers as well as enjoying wide musical tastes. Her favourite songs on the radio or the Hi-Fi were played with good volume as I remember. As for her many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, we shall always remember her very good humour and sense of fun, and her organised, practical and common-sense approach to everything. We can't help but grieve over the way her ability to communicate actively was snatched away so prematurely and cruelly though passively, we dare to hope that she knew more than she could show and can't fail to have been aware of the love that surrounded her from her family, visitors and carers in the care home. Rest in peace, Merelyn! No more pain nor suffering! Go to your eternal reward for a life well spent. We love you! Phil K.
